House Hockey
Building Skills. Building Confidence. Building a Love for the Game.
Welcome to CYHA House Hockey!
Our House program is designed for players of all skill levels, providing a fun, safe, and supportive environment where athletes can develop their hockey skills, build confidence, and enjoy being part of a team. We focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and fostering a lifelong love of the game.
New for the 2026-27 Season!
At CYHA, we're committed to providing the best possible development opportunities for our players.
This season, West Genesee Varsity Head Coach Frank Colabufo approached CYHA with a vision to help strengthen player development within our association. Working together, we've created a six-week on-ice skill development series designed specifically for our 10U, 12U, and 14U House players.
These clinics, led by Coach Colabufo and members of the West Genesee Varsity coaching staff, will focus on the fundamental skills, habits, and hockey IQ needed to help players continue growing and reaching their full potential.
As a community-based association serving West Genesee School District families, CYHA provides a unique opportunity for young players to develop within the same hockey community many aspire to represent at the varsity level. While every player's journey is different, we're excited to strengthen the connection between our youth program and the West Genesee hockey tradition.
Ages
The House Hockey program is open to players from 10U through 18U. Players are placed in age-appropriate divisions based on USA Hockey age classifications and registration numbers. No tryout is required, and all skill levels are welcome.

When
The House Hockey season typically begins in late September or early October and runs through late February or early March.
Practices generally begin before games, allowing players time to get back on the ice and prepare for the season. Throughout the year, players will participate in practices, games, and additional development opportunities designed to build skills and confidence.
Season schedules, important dates, and team information will be communicated through Crossbar and by your Head Coach or Team Manager.
OUR RINK
Shove Park Ice Rink is CYHA's primary home rink and serves as the hub for many of our practices, games, clinics, and association events throughout the season.
LOCATION
Shove Park Ice Arena
1 Shove Park Drive
Camillus, NY 13031
Practices
House teams typically practice twice per week. While CYHA makes every effort to provide a consistent weekly practice schedule, practice days and times may occasionally vary due to rink availability, special events, and our volunteer coaches' schedules.
To ensure each team receives the appropriate amount of ice time, practices may also be scheduled at nearby rinks, including:
- Skaneateles Community Center
- Upstate Medical University Arena at the War Memorial
- The MACC (Cicero Twin Rinks)
- Lysander Ice Arena
- The Rink at The Nation
Our goal is to provide every team with quality practice opportunities while fostering skill development, teamwork, and a positive hockey experience throughout the season.
Games
Each team's Head Coach or Team Manager is responsible for scheduling games throughout the season. As games are confirmed, they will be posted in Crossbar.
Home games may be played at Shove Park or the Skaneateles Community Center, depending on ice availability. Away games are played at rinks throughout Central New York and the surrounding areas.
Each team's schedule is unique and is determined by your Head Coach or Team Manager based on team availability, opponent scheduling, and ice availability. Families are encouraged to regularly check Crossbar for the most up-to-date game schedules, rink locations, and any schedule changes.
Jerseys
Game jerseys are not included in the House Hockey registration fee and must be purchased separately.
CYHA's online jersey store typically opens prior to the start of the season and may reopen periodically throughout the year for additional orders. Families will be notified when the store is open and ordering information will be shared through Crossbar and email.
A standard game jersey package includes:
- Reversible Home/Away Jersey
- Game Socks
- Hockey Shell (Shorts) (optional – please check with your Head Coach before ordering, as requirements may vary by team.)
Players should order jerseys prior to the start of the season to ensure they are ready for the first games.
Extra Costs
CYHA is committed to providing an affordable and rewarding hockey experience for our families. Your House Hockey registration covers the regular season, including scheduled practices and games.
Throughout the season, individual teams may choose to participate in optional tournaments, additional skill development opportunities, or team events. These activities are not required and may involve additional costs.
To help offset these expenses, many teams choose to organize team fundraising activities. Participation in fundraising is encouraged and can help reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket costs for optional team activities.
Any team-specific expenses, fundraising opportunities, or optional activities will be communicated by your Head Coach or Team Manager.
