MITES
Welcome to CYHA Mite Hockey
The CYHA Mite Program is designed to help young players build confidence, develop fundamental hockey skills, and most importantly, have fun! Following the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), our program emphasizes age-appropriate skill development through small-area games, cross-ice play, and high player engagement.
Players continue to develop their skating, puck control, passing, shooting, and hockey awareness while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for the game.
Age Group / Development Levels
Division Levels:
6U • 8U
To provide the best experience for every player, Mites are placed into one of three development groups following evaluations held in late September or early October. Groups are designed to provide an appropriate level of challenge while supporting each player's individual growth and confidence.
DEVELOPMENT GROUPS DEFINED
🔴 Red – Challenge
For players who are ready to build on strong skating and hockey fundamentals with increased pace and more advanced skill development.
⚪ White – Growth
For players continuing to strengthen their skating, puck skills, and game awareness while building confidence.
🔵 Blue – Foundation
For players developing core skating and hockey fundamentals in a fun, encouraging, and supportive environment.
